Randall Kenan (1963- )

Randall KenanAmong Randall Kenan’s books, Let the Dead Bury Their Dead was named a New York Times Notable book in 1992. He taught at Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia University and currently teaches at UNC-Chapel Hill. He published a young adult biography of James Baldwin in 1993 and a collection of black oral histories from people around the United States and Canada, titled Walking on Water: Black American Lives at the Turn of the Twenty-first Century, in 1999. He has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Whiting Award, and other honors.
